Specialized Needs RecreationFunds from Coeur54 will directly impact our scholarship program, specifically Summer Camp All-Stars, Summer Session 2023. Camp All-Stars provides a camp experience for ages eight through eighteen for youth with special needs. The 8-week camp runs Monday-Thursday, 9 am-3 pm, mimicking the traditional school schedule. Families with kids with special needs depend on consistency and inclusivity during non-school sessions; our camp is specifically designed with this in mind. Our Camper families rely on our summer camp, and they have limited resources when school is on break and limited finances (independent funding kicks in once they turn eighteen).
This year, we will receive $32,000 in scholarship requests; $25,000 of those requests come from Camp All-Stars families. We actively seek funding to fund all scholarship requests through individual contributions and grant writing. Without funds to seed the scholarship program, we will see a decline in attendance impacting youth development and family support for those with disabilities. Our small facility acts as a launch pad, where campers are dropped off and picked up after enjoying a jam-packed day of fun swimming, hiking, outdoor games, educational field trips, and learning how to sail. Our campers enjoy the same fun, engaging, and developmental activities neuro-typical children enjoy in a space with people that are most like them. Parents and caretakers alike have peace of mind knowing that their child is engaged and experiencing summer vacation, in a safe environment, without the financial burden or worries of inclusivity in a traditional day camp setting. |
