Austin Westphal

GM/COO

Austin Westphal is the General Manager and a Class A PGA Professional at Avondale Golf Club in Hayden, Idaho, where he oversees all aspects of club operations while helping shape the long-term vision and member experience of the facility. With a strong background in both competitive golf and business management, Austin brings a balanced approach to leadership, player development, and hospitality.


Originally from Kennewick, Washington, Austin grew up immersed in the game of golf. He attended Southridge High School, earning four varsity letters in golf, and continued his playing career at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene. During his time at NIC, he began working on the grounds crew at Avondale Golf Club, sparking his interest in the operational side of the golf industry. He later transferred to Montana State University Billings, where he completed his education and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management in December 2015.


Austin entered the PGA program in 2015 and achieved Class A PGA Membership in April 2018. Throughout his career at Avondale, he has served in multiple roles, including PGA Assistant Golf Professional, instructor, and club fitter, gaining hands-on experience across all areas of golf operations before stepping into the General Manager role.


In addition to his work at Avondale, Austin is deeply involved in professional leadership. He currently serves as President of the Inland Empire Chapter of the PGA (2024–2026), the PNWPGA Board of Directors as a director and has received numerous honors, including 2x IEPGA Assistant Golf Professional of the Year and 3x IEPGA Golf Professional of the year. Along with his involvement with the PGA Austin has overseen the launch of an Avondale Golf Club Foundation furthering his community giveback through his Club.


Austin is passionate about growing the game of golf through coaching, player development, and creating an exceptional experience for members and guests. His leadership philosophy centers on service, community, and continuous improvement—both on and off the course.
